Virtual Channel Driver (VCD)

The Virtual Channel Driver (VCD) is used to record, display, save, and export the system status, (for example, the relay status, gradients, and pump pressure) and Virtual Signals (for example, UV_VIS_1/UV_VIS_2) as signals.

To add a Virtual Channel Driver

In the Chromeleon Server Configuration program, install the Virtual Channel Driver (VCD) in the timebase in the same way as any other Chromeleon device driver (Under Manufacturers, select Generic).

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the Server Configuration, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1.

By default, Chromeleon generates 16 virtual channels. The individual channels can acquire data using a different Step because the step can be set separately for each channel. If more virtual channels are required, several instances of the driver can be installed.

To define the channel properties

During installation, you can define the standard channel names (VirtualChannel_XX), channel type and formula, among other settings.

1. Go to the Signals tab page.

2. Click Change. In the Signal Configuration dialog box, define the channel properties.
